Battle Ready bases review

Hey! Recently I bought a pack of battle ready cobblestone bases for my Haqqislam army for Infinity.
This will be the first time I've done one of these and will go on a scale of 1-10 for the whole product and explain my reasoning.

Here is how they look straight out of the package, minimal amount of flash and other molding issues.
After a quick filing and clipping some of the bigger pieces I rinsed them in soap and water.

The details are very good with no bubbling or warping.

Over all for $8.50 USD for 10 they are easily worth it in my eyes.

I would give them a 8/10.

I decided to do a quick painting tutorial too :D.

After a quick cleaning and washing I started with Vallejo Model Air Grey primer. After laying down a solid coast of that I hit it with VMA sand.

Once that dried, I washed it with watered down Model color black. To shade the cobblestones and add depth.

After that had dried I washed it with some Brown vallejo paint that has the label ripped off. Just use whatever brown or reddish brown you have. Ogryn flesh from GW will work.
This is to add color variation and make it almost like mosaic looking *shrug*.

After THAT had dried I over brushed the stones (its like drybrushing but the paints wet ?_?) with Vallejo sand and some GW kommando khaki. Try to use this to reduce the colors before that didn't make it into the cracks.

While I didn't get a picture of it I washed the rubble/sand parts then over brushed it with VMA U.S.A grey then 50/50 with VMA white to highlight it.

Over all they turned out pretty good in my opinion.

Heres a shot of my Jannissary heavy infantry on one of the bases. I'll take better pictures of the model itself in my light box later.

(Not pictured I painted the rim with VMA black, I know its super important but I couldn't get the lighting right to show how important it is).

First painted ogre (wip)

Well here he is.

His name is "zug" its painted in nordic runes on his left shoulder.

I'm going for a slightly above tabletop level  I guess.

He still needs some cleaning up and the OSL is pretty dirty right now.

Yes those are hearts on the gnoblars handkerchief!

I will have a DE related post tomorrow involving a few venoms!

Cheers

Some finished dark eldar

Well here is 4/5 of one of my warrior squads done!
I went with a winter theme to match pretty much everyother army I have.
There is free hand on almost all the bone parts, and my vehicles will be named in japanese with it written on their hulls.

These are for an 1850 GT in February (now that i look at it, that words spelt weird...)
I hope to get these done like 1month before the tourney so i can just go back and touch up on them.

Custom Raider base

Well, here is the lay out for all my raider/ravagers/other flying evil elf transports. My display board will be a large portal opened behind a ruined imperial sector  with dead guardsmen all over. I have also picked up some "Reaper Master Series" paints...and...all I can say is wow these are awesome! Also around 5 of my warriors are done. I have a 500 point campaign game(s) on Saturday I will post either awesome Video battle reports or pictures...yeah

cheers

(psst there will be snow on the bases too so it will cover up all the bad looking spots...expect blood all over too :D)

Finished first dark eldar (warrior Syrabite)

Well, here she is!

This is my first finished (non dog chewed on) dark Eldar model. I was aiming for a quick and efficient tabletop quality that I can go back and touch up (like I did at adepticon 11). I did some free hand on the armor to practice for the back banner, it didn't work as you can see :(. This one took me around 90 minutes, a good time. I have like 45+ infantry and 8 vehicles in my list (which I'll post tomorrow).

I love the results and it was a joy to paint, these models are crazy detailed, OH CRAP i forgot the blood! meh too tired ATM ill post the dirtied up blood added pictures along with my list tomorrow :)

WIP pictures and a completed skink

to get you in the mood >_>

well, here is some pictures folks

Heres my ghetto set up of a light box (thats a picture from a Washington DC trip I went on)

WIP Ice Golem from Rasputinas crew

And heres the skink i did for a painting competition, the blending on the axe/club thingie isnt too good, oh well im better now :)

Also check the latest GW things

Mephiston looks awesome! The NMM captain is meh, too bright for me and corbulo looks like he has a chemical dependency issue

thats all for now, look for new WIP of astorath and my Dark Eldar

---edit i originally called the lizard thing a "skank" but its actually a skink >_>
